Denise's clinical experience includes working with individuals suffering from anxiety, adult and childhood ADHD, depression, low self-esteem, PTSD, suicide ideation, and traumatic events, including sexual assault, human trafficking, and fire survivors of the 2018 Camp Fire. With a trauma expertise, she provides evidence-based treatment for our first responders, military, veterans, and marginalized populations, including LGBTQ. She offers treatment for individuals, couples, and families, which includes navigating separation, infidelity, divorce, and blended family issues.
Her treatment approaches for individual therapy include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Narrative Therapy, Positive Psychology, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Trauma-Informed Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and Musical Therapy (MT). She is also an ADHD-Certified Clinical Service Provider (ADHD-CCSP) and offers Christian, pastoral, and faith-based support in therapy.
Denise is a Ph.D. student in psychology specializing in trauma and world relief at National University. She earned a master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Capella University and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Jessup University. She is a member of the Delta Kappa International Marriage and Family Honor Society & the Capella University Chi Upsilon Chi Chapter of Scholastic and Professional Excellence.
Denise is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and an AAMFT Supervisor Candidate.
Denise assists couples and families struggling with relationship challenges. This includes therapeutic support for those navigating infidelity, separation, divorce, and blended family issues. Her treatment approaches for couples and families include Bowen Family Systems Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT), and Family Systems Theory (FST). She is certified in the Gottman Trust Revival Method for those couples who have experienced infidelity.
Denise works with at-risk children and teens, including LGBT, sexually abused, exploited, and trafficked youth. She understands that many of these youth suffer from academic challenges, ADHD, anxiety, depression, conduct disorders, low self-esteem, poor impulse control, PTSD, self-harm, and substance abuse.
Her treatment modalities with youth include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Musical Therapy (MT) integrated with musical instruction in keyboards, guitar, voice, Play Therapy (PT), Sand Therapy (ST), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
